Von der Esch’s contributions to knowledge of archaeology around Wadi el-Hudi and the Eastern Desert. Edited and interpreted by Bryan Kraemer.
The following transcriptions and translations come from Hansjoachim von der Esch’s Weenak, die Karawane ruft: Auf verschollenen Pfaden durch Ägyptens Wüsten. F. A. Brockhaus, Leipzig (1943), pp 41-154 in the chapter entitled „Im Land der Bischarin“. These passages describe areas in Wadi el-Hudi and around Wadi el-Hudi which relate to discoveries made by the Wadi el-Hudi expedition. They are presented here so that we can make reference to von der Esch’s discoveries and not expect our audience to have to find a copy of this rare book and read its difficult Fraktur script. We have organized the text by archaeological and other sites of interest in the desert.
